There are multiple options on how different teams handle courses that run for a full year and/or span catalogs.
One option is that they can leave a course and all of the sections in the original catalog. One drawback is that when that catalog ends, the details will temporarily be hidden. Staff would have to include that catalog when looking at enrollment data, running reports. etc.
A preferred option would be that when one catalog ends, staff could modify the Course and change the Catalog in the yellow section to the current active one. Doing that would allow staff to more quickly see it in the current Catalog without taking any additional steps.
