Staff with rights to edit the Welcome page can make appropriate changes. The Welcome page uses snippets that contain pre-made HTML code to allow for faster content creation. For example, a snippet can be added at the top which will adjust other existing content down to allow new content to be reflected. The picture functions of the snippets allow for images to be resized automatically.
The snippets and Welcome page do not include functionality to add a popup that opens automatically when any page of the site is accessed (i.e. COVID information, etc). Any content has to be added manually and updated accordingly.
Important Note: The Welcome page and the WYSIWIG editors within the Eleyo system use HTML code to add the functionality. Using the Grammarly browser plugin can modify the HTML structure of content on the Eleyo Welcome page as well as all WYSIWIG editors within the system. This can cause problems when trying to create, update, and/or display your content. It is recommended that you disable or remove Grammarly when using Eleyo. Below are some basics on doing that.
- Chrome users may disable Grammarly by selecting the browser menu > More Tools > Extensions (or browse to Chrome:extensions) and uncheck the Enabled box next to Grammarly.
- Firefox users may navigate to about:addons and select the Extensions panel. Select the Grammarly add-on and select Disable. Select the Restart now button if it displays.
Please reach out to your district IT/ computer support team for any additional questions regarding disabling Grammarly.
In addition, if the HTML code is altered and is not reflecting the original formatting, it may be necessary to re-create that snippet from scratch (remove one and replace it). Once changes are saved, there is not a way to revert to a previous version.
Creating Buttons ('Register Now' or 'Enroll Now')
Please follow this link: Welcome Page Buttons
Using links to Sign In or Create an Account
When districts are updating their Welcome page, they may be using links for the Create Account or Sign in using the URL for the switchboard which is the single sign on for Eleyo. Instead, district should use the following to create a New Account Creation or Login/Sign In :
Create Account should be districtname.ce.eleyo.com/account/register or districtname.reg.eleyo.com/account/register
Sign In should be districtname.ce.eleyo.com/account/login or districtname.reg.eleyo.com/account/login
Adding an 'About Us' Page
If you would like to add an 'About Us' page with a link from the footer of your page, while editing the primary Welcome page, add /about to the end of the URL and select the Create this page: about button at the bottom left of the screen.
Adding an 'Other Policies' Page
If you would like to add an 'Other Policies' page with a link from the footer of your page, while editing the primary Welcome page, add /policies/other to the end of the URL and select the Create this page: policies/other button at the bottom left of the screen.
Example footer displaying 'About Us' and 'Other Policies' links:
Hyperlinks
There are multiple locations to add hyperlinks. When you hover on an existing snippet, you will see the icon below, you can select it then copy and paste the desired link in to the Link field. There is a check box labeled New Window that can be enabled to open the new site in a tab in the browser. Using that can be helpful so the person can return to the previous tab they navigated from when they selected that link.
Video snippets
When adding a snippet that uses video, one compatible hosting option is YouTube. Canva does not allow their content to be embedded in an iframe which is part of the snippet logic.
